DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the 1st Dolenjska Brevet\, Cycling Through Dolenjska\, which will take place on Saturday\, 9 May 2026\, between 9:00 and 19:00\, with the start and finish at the Main Square in Novo mesto. \nThis cycling experience connects 12 municipalities in the Dolenjska region included in the cycling guide Cycling Through Dolenjska (S kolesom po Dolenjski): Novo mesto\, Šentjernej\, Šmarješke Toplice\, Škocjan\, Mokronog-Trebelno\, Mirna\, Šentrupert\, Trebnje\, Žužemberk\, Mirna Peč\, Straža and Dolenjske Toplice.The route is just over 200 km long and includes approximately 2\,500 metres of elevation gain. It is composed of sections that are already part of the cycling guide. \nThe ride is designed so that individuals can join for the entire route or only a selected section. Two groups are planned: a faster group (brevet\, 200 km) and a slower (touring) group. DESCRIPTION:Cviček Festival (Festival cvička) is the central wine and cultural event of the Dolenjska region and has been held in Novo mesto\, the cradle of cviček\, for many years. The festival is dedicated to promoting cviček – a unique Slovenian wine with protected geographical indication – as well as the winegrowing tradition\, culture\, and cuisine of Dolenjska. Each year\, the event attracts numerous visitors\, winegrowers\, winemakers\, and wine enthusiasts from Slovenia and abroad\, making an important contribution to the recognition of the region and its distinctive wine specialty. \nThe story of the Cviček Festival is created by the Zavod Novo mesto in cooperation with the Association of Dolenjska Winegrowers’ Societies and the Novo mesto Students’ Association. SUMMARY:Tour of Slovenia 2026
DESCRIPTION:Between 17 and 21 June 2026\, Slovenia will once again host one of the country’s biggest sporting events – the 32nd Tour of Slovenia cycling race. The five-day stage race\, considered an important part of the international cycling season\, will once again connect numerous Slovenian towns and attract top domestic and international cyclists to Slovenian roads. \nA special highlight of the race programme is traditionally the final\, 5th stage\, which will finish in Novo mesto on Sunday\, 21 June 2026. The stage will run from Litija to Novo mesto and will cover 162.1 kilometres. Organisers emphasise that the route will be technically demanding and exciting\, with opportunities for breakaways in the first part and a decisive finish over Trška gora\, which has become a trademark of the race finale in recent years. \nThe finish line will once again be located at Glavni trg in Novo mesto\, where the overall winner of this year’s Tour of Slovenia will be crowned. Novo mesto holds a special place in the history of the race\, as it has most frequently hosted stage starts or finishes – the town has welcomed as many as 38 stage finishes to date. \nThe finale in Novo mesto is accompanied every year by an outstanding atmosphere\, with numerous visitors and fans enjoying not only the sporting spectacle\, but also the vibrant spirit of the Dolenjska capital\, its wine tradition\, and its hospitality.
