DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto invites you to a commemorative evening dedicated to the journalist\, publicist and reading advocate Manca Košir. The event will take place on Thursday\, 7 May 2026\, at 18:00 in the Event Atrium. \nThe evening’s guests will be Žiga Valetič\, curator of her literary legacy\, and Tatjana Zorko\, cardiologist\, psychotherapist and Manca’s friend. Together\, they will reflect on Manca\, books and reading\, while the programme will also feature readings of her poetry and excerpts from her works. \nVisitors will also learn more about the book Butterflies Know the Power of Words\, published posthumously. The selection of texts was prepared by Valetič and includes a collection of essays\, columns and reflections by Manca Košir\, revealing—through personal and social experience—the importance of reading\, language and human connection. \nThe discussion will be moderated by Carmen L. DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto invites you to a film screening and discussion titled Jurij Kure – Athlete\, Craftsman and Fighter Against Parkinson’s Disease\, which will take place on Wednesday\, 13 May 2026\, at 18:00 in the Event Atrium. \nJurij Kure was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012. As health challenges followed\, his life changed significantly. He turned to craftsmanship\, creating wooden products\, for which he received the Art&Craft Slovenia and Bela Krajina craftsmanship certificates. Since his primary school years\, he has also played table tennis\, which he describes as “his life\, therapy and relaxation”. He has achieved a number of notable sporting successes\, including three national titles among players with Parkinson’s disease. He has also competed four times at the PingPongParkinson World Championships\, winning a bronze medal in singles (Lignano\, 2025) and a silver medal in doubles (Laško\, 2024). \nA 20-minute documentary film about him\, titled Our Jurček\, presents his life story. The film by Martin Šterk from Sodevci is not only a tribute to traditional craftsmanship but also a moving story of resilience in the face of illness\, creativity and an unwavering will to live. \nYou are warmly invited to watch the film and join the discussion with Jurij Kure. \nThe event will be held in Slovenian. \nEvent website.

Set within the library environment\, where words find their readers every day\, the exhibition explores how stories can be translated into a visual language and how book covers can become a starting point for new\, original interpretations. \nMarinko Polović graduated in Philosophy and Religious Culture from the Faculty of Philosophy and Religious Studies\, and in Library Science from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Since 2007\, he has been employed at the City Library “Ivan Goran Kovačić” in Karlovac\, where he leads various workshops in the fields of information technology and photography.
