DESCRIPTION:Komunala Novo mesto and the Municipality of Novo mesto invite you to the Earth Day event on 22 April 2026. \n22 April\, International Earth Day\, is this year marked by the slogan “Our Planet\, Our Power”\, emphasising that change is in our hands. On this occasion\, an event for all generations will take place at the Main Square in Novo mesto\, bringing together knowledge\, creativity and positive energy. \nBetween 9:00 and 12:00\, visitors will enjoy a diverse stage programme featuring performances by primary school pupils (Prevole\, Dolenjske Toplice\, Drska\, Škocjan\, Šmarjeta\, Grm and others)\, the Novo mesto Dance Studio\, majorettes\, Mladi kamerati and many other performers. The highlight of the event will be a performance by the band Firbci. \nVisitors will also be able to explore more than 30 stands\, where they can learn about school projects\, check how to sort waste correctly\, get acquainted with the use of a defibrillator\, take part in the exchange of clothes\, toys and books\, taste roasted potatoes and much more. \nThe event highlights the importance of responsible environmental behaviour – in Slovenia\, each resident produces approximately 526 kg of waste per year\, with around a quarter still not properly separated. Organisers therefore encourage simple yet important actions: proper waste separation\, reducing waste\, reusing\, exchanging items and choosing sustainable solutions. \nOur planet is our home – and its future is in our hands. \nEvent website

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the Children’s Cycling School workshop\, where children develop basic cycling skills through fun and relaxed learning using games and a skills course. Let the journey begin! \nThe story follows a girl alone in her room. She wanders restlessly until she notices a green string hanging from her toy box. At the end of the string is a small wooden horse. Suddenly\, the horse begins to rock on its own\, and the green string draws a mysterious\, magical landscape on the wall. DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of World Earth Day and the accompanying exhibition Prof. Ferdinand Seidl. 170th Anniversary of His Birth\, Dolenjski muzej Novo mesto\, in cooperation with the Slovensko meteorološko društvo\, invites you to a lecture titled “On the Laws of Weather Phenomena and Weather Forecasting”. \nThe lecture will take place on Wednesday\, 22 April 2026\, at 6:00 p.m. in the lecture hall of the Dolenjski Museum Novo mesto. The speaker will be Miha Hadl. \nThe accompanying exhibition dedicated to the Novo mesto-born natural scientist Ferdinand Seidl offers insight into his life and work. Seidl established himself as a geologist\, seismologist\, and meteorologist\, and also worked in the fields of botany\, nature conservation\, and sociology. This lecture will focus on his contribution to meteorology\, as he laid the foundations of modern meteorology and climatology in Slovenia. \nThe lecturer\, Miha Hadl\, is a university graduate engineer of meteorology and physics. He has been employed as a physics teacher at the Novo mesto Grammar School since 1982 and is a member of the Slovene Meteorological Society.
