SUMMARY:Land Art in the Vineyard
DESCRIPTION:As part of its 140th anniversary\, Grm Novo mesto – Center for Biotechnology and Tourism is organising a unique international art and horticultural event at the Šolska zidanica on Trška Gora\, taking place on 13 and 14 May 2026. \nIn collaboration with five European countries\, participants will create interpretations of the typical vineyard landscape of Trška Gora and use materials sourced directly from the vineyard and its immediate surroundings to design large-scale sustainable installations. Alongside students from floristry and horticultural technician programmes\, as well as other interested participants\, renowned florists and land artists from the Netherlands\, Belgium\, Iceland and Croatia will also take part. \nOn 14 May 2026 at 10:00\, the wider public and media are invited to attend and observe the creative process. \nLand art (also known as earth art or environmental art) is an artistic movement that emerged in the 1960s and 1970s\, in which artworks are created directly in nature using natural materials such as soil\, stone\, water and wood. SUMMARY:The Dolenjska Sparkling Wine Route
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, 14 May 2026\, from 12 noon onwards\, Hiša Fink will host the unique wine and culinary event The Dolenjska Sparkling Wine Route\, bringing together outstanding winemakers from the Dolenjska region\, carefully selected cuisine\, and memorable experiences by the Krka River. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will begin at 12 noon with activities by the Krka River\, including complimentary rides on electric SUP boards. From 3 pm onwards\, guests will enjoy a wine and culinary gathering featuring sparkling wines and thoughtfully prepared dishes made from local ingredients. Culinary highlights will include Krškopolje pork by Hiša Fink\, alongside guest gastronomic partners offering selected delicacies such as Jolanda de Colò Venetian oysters\, Memon prosciutto\, and Vito Maccheroni pasta. \nThe event is based on an open tasting concept. Upon arrival\, visitors will receive a sparkling wine glass and will then use tokens to choose from a variety of food and drink tasting courses. Each token is priced at EUR 5. \nAt 4 pm\, a masterclass on Dolenjska sparkling wines will take place aboard the Rudolf Raft\, led by one of Slovenia’s leading sommeliers\, Gregor Kren. DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto invites you to the opening of the photography exhibition by Marinko Polović\, Covers\, which opens a space where two seemingly quiet yet remarkably powerful art forms—literature and photography—meet. Set within the library environment\, where words find their readers every day\, the exhibition explores how stories can be translated into a visual language and how book covers can become a starting point for new\, original interpretations. \nMarinko Polović graduated in Philosophy and Religious Culture from the Faculty of Philosophy and Religious Studies\, and in Library Science from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Since 2007\, he has been employed at the City Library “Ivan Goran Kovačić” in Karlovac\, where he leads various workshops in the fields of information technology and photography.
