DESCRIPTION:As part of the Novo Mesto Summer Evenings festival\, Goga Publishing House invites you to the literary evening Contemporary Slovenian Science Fiction Literature\, taking place on Tuesday\, 11 August 2026\, at 8.00 pm. \nCONTEMPORARY SLOVENIAN SCIENCE FICTION LITERATURE; IGOR HARB\, NIKA NIKOLIČ AND ALJOŠA HARLAMOV / LITERARY EVENING \nThe Slovenian geek universe has become richer this year with two new home-grown works of science fiction. One is by translator\, critic and long-time genre enthusiast Igor Harb\, while the other is by writer and psychotherapist Nika Nikolič. \nSince both authors have long explored science-fiction worlds as passionate readers and knowledgeable followers of the genre\, the conversation promises to venture far beyond Earth. Among cosmic expanses\, androids\, futures\, alternative worlds and perhaps a few questions about human nature\, the discussion will be guided by writer\, editor and devoted science-fiction enthusiast Aljoša Harlamov. \nThe event will take place at the festival venue in the Main Square\, in front of Goga Bookshop. \nEvent webpage \nNOVO MESTO SUMMER EVENINGS \nThroughout July and August\, Novo Mesto welcomes some of Slovenia’s leading writers\, poets and musicians. SUMMARY:Summer Art Cinema
DESCRIPTION:The Janez Trdina Cultural Centre (KCJT) is once again inviting audiences to its Summer Film Evenings\, a popular series of free open-air film screenings. Throughout July and August\, the square in front of the Cultural Centre will be transformed into a charming outdoor cinema\, where visitors can enjoy a carefully selected programme of high-quality Slovenian and European arthouse films under the stars. \nScreenings will take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 9.00 pm\, with the exception of 18–24 August\, when they will pause for the Jazzinty Festival. Visitors are welcome to bring blankets or cushions and create their own comfortable outdoor cinema experience. In the event of bad weather\, screenings will be moved to the foyer of the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre.
