DESCRIPTION:As part of the Novo Mesto Summer Evenings festival\, Goga Publishing House invites you to a puppet performance for children entitled The Little Mirror\, taking place on Saturday\, 8 August 2026\, at 10.00 am. \nTHE LITTLE MIRROR; LG NEBO / PUPPET PERFORMANCE \nA “wooden story” about forest animals. \nIn a forest clearing\, a rabbit finds a little mirror and sees his own reflection in it. Delighted to have found “his picture”\, he shows it to the other animals\, but each of them insists that the image belongs to them. Finally\, the bear takes the picture to his family\, and they all recognise the head of a bear in it. \nSince\, alongside animals and plants\, wood is the greatest treasure of forests\, the puppets are made of wood. The overall impression is enhanced by music performed mainly on wooden instruments. \nThe event will take place at the festival venue in the Main Square\, in front of Goga Bookshop. \nEvent webpage \nNOVO MESTO SUMMER EVENINGS \nThroughout July and August\, Novo Mesto welcomes some of Slovenia’s leading writers\, poets and musicians. SUMMARY:26th Jazzinty Festival
DESCRIPTION:From 17 to 22 August 2026\, Novo mesto will once again host the 26th International Jazzinty Workshop and Festival\, one of Slovenia’s leading international jazz events. Combining outstanding concerts\, an international jazz workshop and nightly jam sessions\, the six-day programme attracts established musicians\, emerging artists and jazz enthusiasts from around the world. \nFor 26 years\, Jazzinty has provided a vibrant space for creativity\, learning and musical collaboration. Over the past quarter of a century\, it has welcomed more than 1\,200 workshop participants and presented over 250 concerts by Slovenian and international artists. An important part of its mission is also Jazzon\, Slovenia’s only composition award dedicated to young jazz composers under the age of 30. \nInternational Workshop\nThis year’s workshop brings together eight internationally acclaimed tutors: \n\nTawanda – vocals\nJonathan Kreisberg – guitar\nMarko Črnčec – piano\nColin Stranahan – drums\nJoshua Ginsburg – double bass\nLuigi Grasso – saxophone\nBoris Majcen – trumpet\nBlaž Pahor – Introduction to Jazz\n\nOnce again\, the workshop brings together distinguished musicians from Europe\, the United States and Slovenia for an intensive week of performance\, education and international collaboration. \nFestival Programme\nThe festival features 11 concerts over six evenings\, taking place at the square in front of the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre and in the Park of the Growing Book. DESCRIPTION:Novo Mesto Institute is organising the 22nd Games of Friendship\, an international multi-sport event for young people\, taking place from 28 to 30 August 2026 at several sports venues across Novo Mesto. The three-day event will once again bring together around 300 young athletes\, offering not only sporting competition but also opportunities to socialise\, discover different cultures and build new friendships. \nCompetitions will be held in six sports: football\, handball\, volleyball\, basketball\, table tennis and chess.
