SUMMARY:Going Home to Novo Mesto
DESCRIPTION:The traditional Going Home to Novo Mesto project (Grem domov v Novo mesto)\, organised by the Novo mesto Student Association (DNŠ)\, once again brings together students from Novo mesto as they set off on foot from Ljubljana\, Maribor and Koper to return to their hometown at the end of the academic year. The walk promotes an active lifestyle\, strengthens the bonds between students and celebrates their connection to Novo mesto\, symbolically marking their journey home after a successful academic year. \nThe highlight of the event will take place on Saturday\, 11 July 2026\, at 7.00 pm in the Main Square (Glavni trg) in Novo mesto\, where walkers from all three routes will receive a warm welcome from visitors and supporters. The evening will continue with a free open-air concert featuring Masharik\, Tabu and Big Foot Mama. Everyone is warmly invited to join the celebration\, even if they did not take part in the walk. DESCRIPTION:The Association for the Development of Voluntary Work Novo Mesto (Društvo za razvijanje prostovoljnega dela Novo mesto) once again invites children to join its popular summer programme\, Children’s World\, where they can develop their imagination through creative workshops\, make unique crafts\, discover a variety of artistic techniques\, and make new friends. The workshops will take place from 1 to 24 July 2026\, every weekday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon\, in the courtyard of Gostišče na trgu (Glavni trg 30\, Novo Mesto). \nThe programme is designed for children who enjoy being creative\, exploring new ideas\, and spending their summer mornings in a fun and friendly environment. During the first week\, children will make a sewn fish\, create a marionette\, and take part in a fun space rocket challenge. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, 20 June 2026\, Young Styles Battle 13\, one of the largest and most established youth breaking events in the Balkans\, will take place in Novo mesto\, organised by Plesni Studio Novo mesto. Following a series of successful editions\, the event returns for its thirteenth year and is once again expected to attract young dancers from Slovenia and abroad. \nThe competition will run from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm at Kočevarjeva 9\, Novo mesto. Participants will compete in the 1 vs 1 Under 14\, 1 vs 1 Open and 3 vs 3 Open categories. A total prize fund of €900 has been allocated for the top competitors\, while all registered participants will receive an official event T-shirt\, a diploma and practical prizes. \nThe judging panel will consist of Manuel “Bboy Alister” from Italy\, Luka “Bboy Lux De Lux” from Croatia and Urkius from the Slovenian crew Bastarts Crew. Music will be provided by DJ Rick Zase from Italy\, while the event will be hosted by Aljaž Rodič – Alphabet. \nYoung Styles Battle aims to encourage the development of breaking culture among young people while providing opportunities for socialising\, exchanging experiences and gaining valuable competition experience. Over the years\, it has established itself as an important gathering for young dancers from across the region and as one of the leading youth urban dance events in the Balkans. \nThe competitor registration fee is €15 and includes an official YSB13 T-shirt. Or that there are over 500 species of solitary bees? DESCRIPTION:This year’s Prom Dance Quadrille will take place on Thursday\, 21 May 2026\, when at exactly 12:00 noon graduating students from secondary schools in Novo Mesto will perform the traditional quadrille dance\, symbolically marking the completion of their secondary education. DESCRIPTION:As part of its 140th anniversary\, Grm Novo mesto – Center for Biotechnology and Tourism is organising a unique international art and horticultural event at the Šolska zidanica on Trška Gora\, taking place on 13 and 14 May 2026. \nIn collaboration with five European countries\, participants will create interpretations of the typical vineyard landscape of Trška Gora and use materials sourced directly from the vineyard and its immediate surroundings to design large-scale sustainable installations.
