This traditional event will once again bring together local residents\, visitors\, and fans of social and sporting activities in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. \nThe highlight of the event will be a goulash cooking competition\, where teams will showcase their culinary skills and creativity in preparing traditional goulash. In addition to the culinary gathering\, visitors will be able to enjoy various sports games and competitions\, including darts\, tug of war\, “štrbunk\,” and ski relay games. The event encourages cooperation\, team spirit\, and intergenerational socialising. \nThe Otočec Local Holiday is dedicated to strengthening community ties and creating enjoyable moments filled with good food\, sport\, and entertainment. DESCRIPTION:The Dolenjska Museum invites you to the traditional Situlae Festival – a celebration of Iron Age life and cuisine\, taking place on Saturday\, 13 June 2026\, from 17:00 to 23:00 at Glavni trg\, Novo mesto. \nPROGRAMME\n\nFrom 17:00 onwards: prehistoric market\, culinary offerings\, workshops\n18:00: opening of the 11th Situlae Festival\n19:30: performance at the princely court\n20:00: competitions for children and adults\n21:10: spiritual life presentation\n21:30: fire show\n22:00: guided tour of situla art at the Dolenjska Museum\n\nOTHER ACTIVITIES\n\nDemonstrations of ancient crafts and products: pottery\, glassmaking\, fur processing\, traditional honey-bread making\, wool dyeing and felting\, blacksmithing.\nWorkshops for children: bread baking\, archery\, mock combat with clubs\, spear fighting\, axe fighting\, making leather bracelets\, creating miniature situlas\, designing glass necklaces\, making glass pendants\, and a social game.\nCompetitions for adults: spear throwing.\nCompetitions for children in three sporting disciplines: obstacle race\, long jump\, and ball target throwing.\nA diverse culinary offer for every taste: fish\, vegetable delicacies\, beer\, honey\, dairy products\, game dishes\, and natural juices.\n\nThe Situlae Festival is dedicated to situlas – stunning bronze artefacts that tell the story of the lives of the Hallstatt inhabitants of Novo mesto. These remarkable objects provide undeniable evidence of the wealth and sophistication of these ancient civilisations\, equal to the great cultures of continental and Mediterranean Europe. \nThe Situla Festival is an event deeply rooted in the cultural and natural heritage of the Dolenjska region\, enriched with a fresh urban perspective. SUMMARY:Cherry Festival in Brusnice
DESCRIPTION:The Brusnice Local Community\, in cooperation with local associations\, invites you to the traditional Cherry Festival in Brusnice\, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday\, 13 and 14 June 2026\, in Velike Brusnice at the foothills of the Gorjanci hills. \nThe Cherry Festival in Brusnice is one of the oldest tourism events in the Dolenjska region and in Slovenia as a whole\, with its origins dating back to 1912. Visitors can admire the resilience of the famous Brusnice Crunch Cherry (Brusniška hrustavka)\, a local cherry variety that has proven to be the most successful among those traditionally grown in the area’s orchards. Its indigenous character reflects the wisdom of local generations\, who recognised it as a variety particularly resistant to disease and capable of producing a satisfactory crop even in less favourable years. \nThis two-day celebration offers a rich cultural\, musical and culinary programme for visitors of all ages. \nProgramme\nSaturday\, 13 June 2026\n\n7.00 pm – Ceremony marking the local community holiday and raising of the national flag.\n8.00 pm – Firefighters’ summer fête with live music by the Jure Zajc Ensemble.\n\nSunday\, 14 June 2026\n\n9.00 am–2.00 pm – Brusnice Market: exhibition and sale of cherries and other local delicacies\, accompanied by a varied entertainment programme.\n3.00 pm – Traditional parade featuring a humorous presentation of rural customs and current local events.\n4.00 pm – Children’s entertainment programme with Marjan – Little BU.\n5.00 pm – Open-air celebration with live music by the Kavšt Ensemble.\n\nEvent website.
