DESCRIPTION:Dear mountain wardens\, guardians of mountain nature and all members of the Hiking Association Novo mesto\, you are kindly invited to a very interesting nature conservation excursion\, which will take place on Saturday\, 11 April 2026\, with departure at 7:00. The nature conservation excursion is the final excursion for this year’s trainees for mountain wardens. Trainees are exempt from transport costs. There are still 17 seats available on the bus for other participants\, so please hurry with registration. If the bus becomes fully booked\, we will organize additional transport for members of the Hiking Association Novo mesto.With us will be the lecturer of the GS courses\, Prof. Dušan Klenovšek.The activities of the Hiking Association Novo mesto are supported by the Municipality of Novo mesto.\nDEPARTURE: We will gather in front of Planet Tuš in Novo mesto on Saturday\, 11 April 2026\, at 7:00. We will travel along the route: from Novo mesto we will continue through Trebnje towards Ljubljana\, Stahovica and Črnivec\, to the parking area at Rakova Ravan below Gojška Planina.\nACTION: This time we will visit the blooming Mala and Velika Planina. First we will ascend to Gojška Planina\, continue to Mala Planina\, past the Črnuče Hut to the Domžale Hut\, then climb behind it to Mali and Veliki Vršič\, continue towards the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows (time for a snack)\, then on to the foothills of Veliko Gradišče (1666 m – the highest peak of Velika Planina) and then return along the southern ridge to the Domžale Hut. There will also be a ceremonial awarding of certificates and badges to the new GS (and time for a drink\, coffee and something to eat)\, after which we will return to the starting point\, where the bus will pick us up.\nRETURN: The excursion will conclude in the evening hours.\nVGN: We strive not to cause damage in nature (picking flowers\, breaking branches\, etc.) and not to make noise. DESCRIPTION:As part of the celebration of the municipal holiday of the Municipality of Novo mesto\, the Hiking Association Novo mesto is organizing the traditional\, now twelfth\, “Rudolfovanje.” This is a hiking–cycling–cultural event aimed at reviving and bringing back to life the Rudolf Trail.\nThe hiking and cycling route is 40 km long and follows the borders of the former town territory of Rudolfswerth\, as defined by Rudolf IV of Habsburg in the founding charter in 1365.\nThis year’s Rudolfovanje will take place together with the “Sports City” event organized by the Novo mesto Institute.\nYou are invited to join one of the events on April 11\, 2026\, with a joint conclusion at 4:00 PM at the Olympic Center (by the swimming pool) in Češča vas: \nEach participant can choose the option that suits them best: \n\nFull-route hike of the Rudolf Trail\, starting in Češča vas at the Olympic Center. The hike begins at 6:00 AM. Refreshments will be provided along the way\, and transportation will be arranged for anyone who becomes too exhausted. Although the route is technically easy\, its length makes it demanding. Including breaks\, it will take about 10 hours. The highest point reached will be Golušnik at 510 meters\, and the lowest point will be the crossing of the Krka River at Otočec at 160 meters.\nMain (central) hike\, held every year from the covered cutting at Karteljevo\, past the mill in Bezgavec\, to the Olympic Center (green section of the route on the next page). Participants will meet at 11:00 AM in Češča vas by the pool\, from where a bus will take them to the starting point. The hike will be 14 km long\, with a refreshment stop along the way. The difficulty is easy.\nTrekking cycling along the full route\, also starting at the Olympic Center at 11:30 AM. The same route description and characteristics apply to cyclists. DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto\, together with the Biodynamic Association Ajda Dolenjska\, invites you to a lecture by Maja Kolar titled Healthy Soil for Food Production and the Use of Chromatography\, which will take place on Wednesday\, 11 March 2026\, at 5:00 pm in the Events Atrium. \nVital and healthy soil forms the fundamental basis for producing high-quality food for human consumption. The lecture will present key steps that help achieve this goal. Special attention will be given to the method of chromatography\, which is used within the biodynamic approach to effectively evaluate and assess soil quality. \nDr Maja Kolar holds a doctorate in agronomy and is a qualified lecturer in the field of organic food production at the Biotechnical Centre Naklo. She is also co-president of the Demeter International Biodynamic Federation\, which certifies biodynamic producers operating under the Demeter label. \nBased on her own life experience\, she devoted herself to organic farming. In recent years she has focused particularly on preserving and propagating traditional organic seeds. She works as the professional coordinator of Semenjalnica\, an ecological seed bank. She also participates in various projects in Slovenia and abroad related to organic and biodynamic education and advisory work. SUMMARY:The 7 Waterfalls Trail Hike
DESCRIPTION:The Pohodniško društvo Novo mesto invites everyone\, especially young hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers\, to join us once again across the border to Croatia\, this time to Istria. We are heading to Buzet\, which will be the starting point of the circular 7 Waterfalls Trail through the canyon of the Mirna River and Draga. Our activity is supported by the Municipality of Novo mesto. \nDEPARTURE: We will meet at 6:00 AM at OŠ Bršljin. From there\, we will travel to Buzet\, our starting point for a beautiful and memorable hike. \nHIKE: We will begin our tour in the gorge of the Mirna River\, where the water has created lakes\, rapids\, and pools\, with the waterfalls being the most beautiful feature. Each of the seven waterfalls is unique\, and the third waterfall stands out the most with its 26 meters. This is also where the trail stamp is located. We continue into the Buzet Canyon\, which also features a climbing area. A steeper ascent follows\, assisted by pegs and steel cables. After visiting the fourth waterfall\, the trail will lead us to Napoleonov most (Napoleon’s Bridge)\, past abandoned villages to the hamlet of Kotlje\, where there are pools\, an abandoned mill\, and the fifth waterfall. Not far ahead\, the final two waterfalls follow. The entire circular route is 15 km long and not technically demanding. We will need approximately 6 to 7 hours of moderate walking with breaks to complete the route. The planned return to Novo mesto is in the late afternoon. \nENVIRONMENTAL GUIDELINES: During the hike\, we will make every effort to carry our waste back home\, avoid causing damage to nature\, and not disturb forest animals with noise. \nEQUIPMENT: You will need warm clothing\, a hat\, gloves\, and good footwear – hiking boots are recommended – as well as personal equipment. Do not forget your ID and hiking logbook. Hiking poles are also recommended. In case of higher water levels\, it may be necessary to remove boots when crossing the river\, so sandals or flip-flops and a small towel would be useful. \nFOOD: Please bring your own food and drinks in your backpack. \nPRICE: Youth – members €25\, non-members €30. DESCRIPTION:Together with the Ajda Dolenjska Biodynamic Association\, you are invited to a lecture on the biodynamic method of food production\, internationally recognised as producing food of the highest quality. The lecture will take place at the Miran Jarc Library in Novo Mesto on Wednesday\, 18 February 2026\, at 5.00 pm. \nBiodynamically produced food is grown without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides and is typically based on open-pollinated seeds. In caring for the health of the soil and plants\, biodynamic farmers use special preparations that help plants connect more deeply with the energies of the Earth and the cosmos\, while prepared compost ensures the soil is more intensely infused with vitality. The biodynamic method was founded by the philosopher and scientist Dr Rudolf Steiner in 1924 and is now practised worldwide. \nMeta Vrhunc\, an economist and translator\, has been working for over 40 years to bring Steiner’s legacy of caring for soil fertility and producing food essential for human development to Slovenia.
