DESCRIPTION:Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto invites you to the presentation of the autobiography entitled Everything Is Fate\, which will take place on Thursday\, 5 March 2026\, at 6.00 pm in the Events Atrium. \nRacing driver\, successful businessman and\, for a period\, also diplomat Matjaž Tomlje\, born in Novo mesto\, won the bronze medal at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 1994\, achieving one of the greatest accomplishments in Slovenian motor racing. \nIn the opening chapters of his autobiography\, the author acknowledges that he was shaped by the “automotive spirit beneath the Gorjanci Hills”\, namely the Novo mesto-based IMV company. Fate\, which has been favourable to him\, brought him into contact and acquaintance with numerous key decision-makers and figures around the world; nevertheless\, this is the story we call life\, dedicated to those closest to him. \nThe presentation will be held in Slovenian. \nEvent website

SUMMARY:Opening of the Running Season and Running Shoe Test
DESCRIPTION:The Marathon Novo mesto Association invites everyone to the event Opening of the Running Season and Running Shoe Test\, which will take place on Sunday\, 8 March 2026\, at Otočec Castle. \nParticipants in this sports and recreational event will have the opportunity to learn about and test running shoes\, while also taking part in a guided road running training session. \nThe training will focus on longer distances\, approximately 10 to 30 kilometres. Runners will be divided into several groups according to pace (7:00/km\, 6:30/km\, 6:00/km\, 5:30/km\, 5:00/km and the fastest group\, the “rockets”)\, allowing for an enjoyable and tailored experience for different levels of fitness. \nFor companions\, parents and anyone who will not be running\, an approximately 1.5-hour walk around the castle area will be organised. \nParticipation in the event is free of charge. DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto\, together with the Biodynamic Association Ajda Dolenjska\, invites you to a lecture by Maja Kolar titled Healthy Soil for Food Production and the Use of Chromatography\, which will take place on Wednesday\, 11 March 2026\, at 5:00 pm in the Events Atrium. \nVital and healthy soil forms the fundamental basis for producing high-quality food for human consumption. The lecture will present key steps that help achieve this goal. Special attention will be given to the method of chromatography\, which is used within the biodynamic approach to effectively evaluate and assess soil quality. \nDr Maja Kolar holds a doctorate in agronomy and is a qualified lecturer in the field of organic food production at the Biotechnical Centre Naklo. She is also co-president of the Demeter International Biodynamic Federation\, which certifies biodynamic producers operating under the Demeter label. \nBased on her own life experience\, she devoted herself to organic farming. In recent years she has focused particularly on preserving and propagating traditional organic seeds. She works as the professional coordinator of Semenjalnica\, an ecological seed bank. She also participates in various projects in Slovenia and abroad related to organic and biodynamic education and advisory work. DESCRIPTION:Dolenjska will host the 36th World Logging Championship 2026 (WLC 2026) in March 2026\, the largest and most prestigious international competition in forestry skills\, which will be held in Slovenia for the first time in history. \nThe official opening ceremony of the championship\, including the parade of national teams\, will take place on Thursday\, 12 March 2026\, at 6:00 pm at the Main Square in Novo Mesto. The competition programme will run from 13 to 15 March 2026 at the Šentjernej Hippodrome (at the same time as the Gregorjevo Fair). Admission to all competitions is free. \nA total of 114 competitors from 24 countries will take part in the championship. SUMMARY:Clean-Up Action by the Hiking Association Novo mesto
DESCRIPTION:The Hiking Association Novo mesto (Pohodniško društvo Novo mesto) invites everyone to join the clean-up of the Rudolf Path\, taking place on Thursday\, 26 March 2026\, from 3:30 PM onwards. \nThe association invests great effort in preserving nature\, especially mountain environments. As caretakers of the Rudolf Path\, they organise an annual clean-up action before the main event Rudolfovanje\, during which selected sections of the trail are cleared of litter. \nThe meeting point will be at OŠ Bršljin at 3:30 PM\, where participants will be assigned to specific sections of the path. They will then be transported by car to the starting points of their sections\, walk the sections on foot\, and collect all litter along the way. Transport back to the meeting point at OŠ Bršljin will be provided in the late afternoon\, between 6:00 and 7:00 PM. \nEvent website.

She first volunteered at the ELA Centre near Mount Kenya\, then in Nairobi\, and finally on the remote Wasini Island. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, 28 March 2026\, from 9:00 AM onwards\, the traditional clean-up campaign Let’s Clean Our Neighbourhood will take place across the local communities of the Municipality of Novo mesto. \nThe aim of the campaign is to contribute to a well-maintained\, clean\, and pleasant living environment. Participants will take part in cleaning the surroundings of schools\, kindergartens\, residential areas\, walking paths\, and any identified illegal dumping sites. \nResidents can join the campaign through their respective local community organisations\, where they will also receive more detailed information about the designated clean-up areas. Companies will also take part\, ensuring the cleanliness of their surroundings in cooperation with the Europe Direct Novo mesto point. \nOn the day of the campaign\, a duty service of Komunala Novo mesto will be available for assistance and waste removal at +386 31 650 989. \nEvent website.

DESCRIPTION:The Novo mesto Cycling Club invites you to the Grand Prix of Novo mesto cycling race\, taking place on Sunday\, 29 March 2026\, starting at 12:30 at the Novo mesto Olympic Center and finishing at 16:30 at Glavni trg in Novo mesto. \nAlthough the Grand Prix of Novo mesto is a new name on the Slovenian cycling scene\, it is an established race and event that\, together with the Grand Prix of the Municipality of Piran and the Grand Prix of Slovenian Istria\, is considered one of the Slovenian spring classics. \nThe race route remains unchanged\, linking Dolenjska and Bela Krajina in a challenging cycling loop. The demanding course will once again test the top-level preparation of both individual riders and teams aiming for the podium.
