DESCRIPTION:The Cycling Federation of Slovenia invites riders to the 2026 National Time Trial Championships\, which return to the route used for the 2022 National Championships\, along Bratstvo in Enotnost Road. The event will take place on Friday\, 26 June 2026\, at Kettejev drevored in Novo Mesto. \nCourse\nThe race course is an out-and-back route with a turnaround point and measures 14.4 kilometres. After the start\, the course descends for approximately 1.5 kilometres\, followed by a climb with an average gradient of 5.7%. Around one kilometre before the turnaround point in Poljane pri Mirni Peči\, the road levels out. After the turn\, riders face a descent and a final climb to the finish\, averaging 5.4%. SUMMARY:Tour of Slovenia 2026
DESCRIPTION:Between 17 and 21 June 2026\, Slovenia will once again host one of the country’s biggest sporting events – the 32nd Tour of Slovenia cycling race. The five-day stage race\, considered an important part of the international cycling season\, will once again connect numerous Slovenian towns and attract top domestic and international cyclists to Slovenian roads. \nA special highlight of the race programme is traditionally the final\, 5th stage\, which will finish in Novo mesto on Sunday\, 21 June 2026. The stage will run from Litija to Novo mesto and will cover 162.1 kilometres. Organisers emphasise that the route will be technically demanding and exciting\, with opportunities for breakaways in the first part and a decisive finish over Trška gora\, which has become a trademark of the race finale in recent years. \nThe finish line will once again be located at Glavni trg in Novo mesto\, where the overall winner of this year’s Tour of Slovenia will be crowned. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, 20 June 2026\, Young Styles Battle 13\, one of the largest and most established youth breaking events in the Balkans\, will take place in Novo mesto\, organised by Plesni Studio Novo mesto. Following a series of successful editions\, the event returns for its thirteenth year and is once again expected to attract young dancers from Slovenia and abroad. \nThe competition will run from 11:30 am to 7:00 pm at Kočevarjeva 9\, Novo mesto. Participants will compete in the 1 vs 1 Under 14\, 1 vs 1 Open and 3 vs 3 Open categories. A total prize fund of €900 has been allocated for the top competitors\, while all registered participants will receive an official event T-shirt\, a diploma and practical prizes. \nThe judging panel will consist of Manuel “Bboy Alister” from Italy\, Luka “Bboy Lux De Lux” from Croatia and Urkius from the Slovenian crew Bastarts Crew. Music will be provided by DJ Rick Zase from Italy\, while the event will be hosted by Aljaž Rodič – Alphabet. \nYoung Styles Battle aims to encourage the development of breaking culture among young people while providing opportunities for socialising\, exchanging experiences and gaining valuable competition experience. DESCRIPTION:The Association for the Development and Preservation of the Countryside Orehek invites you to a memorial motorcycle ride in honour of Branko Turk\, a friend\, colleague\, and a person who left a strong impression and many cherished memories. The memorial ride will take place on Monday\, 1 June 2026\, from 8:00 to 14:00. \nParticipants and motorcyclists will gather at 8:00 at the cemetery in Veliki Slatnik. After a shared morning gathering and coffee\, the participants will set off on a planned ride through the Dolenjska region and its wider surroundings. \nThe route will lead from Veliki Slatnik towards Šentjernej\, where it will turn in Struga towards Otočec and continue past the castle towards Kronovo\, Šmarjeta\, Zbure\, and Mokronog. From there\, the route will continue via Lakovnice towards Pavlova vas and Malkovec\, then descend into the valley to Tržišče and further on towards Sevnica. In Boštanj\, the ride will turn towards Radeče\, then continue through Hotemež\, Šentjanž\, Krmelj\, Gabrijele\, and Trebnje towards Pluska\, Dobrnič\, and Žužemberk. \nFrom Žužemberk\, the ride will continue towards Stavča vas\, Jama\, and Dvor\, then through Soteska towards the Bela krajina region. The route passes the vineyard house of composer Marjan Kozina\, marking the first stop and a pleasant surprise. The hike continues to Zidanica Teropšič\, where participants will enjoy a warm welcome and a snack. After a short break and taking in views of the Krka River valley and the green Gorjanci hills\, the hike continues to the summit of Trška Gora\, where participants can relax in the shade of the linden trees and enjoy a guided meditation accompanied by the sounds of birds. The hike then descends back to the starting point. \nThe hike is suitable for anyone able to walk gentle slopes. The total route is under 7 km\, with walking taking approximately 2 hours. DESCRIPTION:Hiking Society Novo mesto invites you to Koroška for a visit to the Mučevo via ferratas on Sunday\, 17 May 2026\, departing at 7:00 am from in front of Bršljin Primary School. \nDescription: The Mučevo Via Ferrata was created at the initiative of the Mountaineering Association Črna na Koroškem. Its construction was funded by the Municipality of Črna na Koroškem and carried out by the company Karbid. \nThere are two protected climbing routes in the Mučevo Gorge. The easier route (graded B\, with some C sections) initially follows the right side of the gorge before continuing along a prominent ridge. The more demanding route is graded D\, with individual sections graded E\, although these can also be bypassed. This route runs through the gorge and across its rock walls. \nEvent website.

DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto invites you to a film screening and discussion titled Jurij Kure – Athlete\, Craftsman and Fighter Against Parkinson’s Disease\, which will take place on Wednesday\, 13 May 2026\, at 18:00 in the Event Atrium. \nJurij Kure was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012. As health challenges followed\, his life changed significantly. He turned to craftsmanship\, creating wooden products\, for which he received the Art&Craft Slovenia and Bela Krajina craftsmanship certificates. Since his primary school years\, he has also played table tennis\, which he describes as “his life\, therapy and relaxation”. He has achieved a number of notable sporting successes\, including three national titles among players with Parkinson’s disease. He has also competed four times at the PingPongParkinson World Championships\, winning a bronze medal in singles (Lignano\, 2025) and a silver medal in doubles (Laško\, 2024). \nA 20-minute documentary film about him\, titled Our Jurček\, presents his life story. The film by Martin Šterk from Sodevci is not only a tribute to traditional craftsmanship but also a moving story of resilience in the face of illness\, creativity and an unwavering will to live. \nYou are warmly invited to watch the film and join the discussion with Jurij Kure. \nThe event will be held in Slovenian. \nEvent website.

DESCRIPTION:The Novo mesto Hiking Society invites participants to a hike to Tosc\, which will take place on Sunday\, 10 May 2026\, with departure at 6.00 am from Bršljin Primary School in Novo mesto. \nRoute description:This hike will start in front of the military barracks at Rudno Polje. The route will partly follow a marked trail leading towards Triglav. Initially\, the path leads through the forest above the Konjščica pasture up to Jezerce. From there\, the ascent continues to the Studor Saddle\, and the route proceeds towards Vodnik Lodge. Shortly after\, hikers will reach a junction where they turn right towards the summit; from this point onwards\, the trail is unmarked. \nA steep ascent leads to the ridge of Tosc\, and only a short walk across a grassy slope remains to reach the summit itself. On the descent\, the group will also visit the Konjščica pasture. The hike will take approximately 7 hours of walking time\, with a total elevation gain of just over 900 metres. \nEvent website.
