DESCRIPTION:The Association for the Development and Preservation of the Countryside Orehek invites you to a memorial motorcycle ride in honour of Branko Turk\, a friend\, colleague\, and a person who left a strong impression and many cherished memories. The memorial ride will take place on Monday\, 1 June 2026\, from 8:00 to 14:00. \nParticipants and motorcyclists will gather at 8:00 at the cemetery in Veliki Slatnik. After a shared morning gathering and coffee\, the participants will set off on a planned ride through the Dolenjska region and its wider surroundings. \nThe route will lead from Veliki Slatnik towards Šentjernej\, where it will turn in Struga towards Otočec and continue past the castle towards Kronovo\, Šmarjeta\, Zbure\, and Mokronog. From there\, the route will continue via Lakovnice towards Pavlova vas and Malkovec\, then descend into the valley to Tržišče and further on towards Sevnica. In Boštanj\, the ride will turn towards Radeče\, then continue through Hotemež\, Šentjanž\, Krmelj\, Gabrijele\, and Trebnje towards Pluska\, Dobrnič\, and Žužemberk. \nFrom Žužemberk\, the ride will continue towards Stavča vas\, Jama\, and Dvor\, then through Soteska towards the Bela krajina region. On the return towards Novo mesto\, the route will pass the Dolž area\, where participants will turn towards Veliki Orehek\, where a gathering and meal will follow at the Community Hall of Veliki Orehek. \nEvent website.

DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library invites you to an event in the At the Edge of Summer series\, which will this time host the Prekmurje-based “Kurji pastir” Feri Lainšček\, one of the most recognisable contemporary Slovenian literary authors. He is the recipient of numerous national and international awards\, and his works have been translated into several languages and adapted for film on multiple occasions. \nThe conversation will focus on his life and work\, with special emphasis on the book Dreams Are Eternal (Sanje so večne)\, which brings together a selection of 76 love poems from approximately 35 years of his literary output. His poetry is marked by motifs of the Pannonian plains\, duality and love\, as well as distinctive metaphorical expression and emotional depth. The oldest poem in the collection\, House of St Nicholas (Hiša svetega Nikolaja)\, dates from 1990\, while the most recent\, In Moonlight (V mesečini)\, has not yet been published. Another widely acclaimed work is the collection Don’t Be Like Others (Ne bodi kot drugi\, 2007)\, which has seen numerous reprints. \nThe talk evening\, held in Slovenian and moderated by Carmen L. DESCRIPTION:The Jaz ženska community invites you to the second 100 Women Hike on Trška Gora\, an event offering the perfect opportunity for socialising\, enjoying nature\, and connecting with both natural and inner energy. The hike will take place on Saturday\, 23 May 2026\, starting at 8:00 am at the Trška Gora Entry Point. \nRoute description:The hike will begin at 8:00 am at the foot of Trška Gora in Sevno\, near the Centre for Biotechnology and Tourism Grm Novo mesto\, where organised parking is available. The route passes the vineyard house of composer Marjan Kozina\, marking the first stop and a pleasant surprise. The hike continues to Zidanica Teropšič\, where participants will enjoy a warm welcome and a snack. After a short break and taking in views of the Krka River valley and the green Gorjanci hills\, the hike continues to the summit of Trška Gora\, where participants can relax in the shade of the linden trees and enjoy a guided meditation accompanied by the sounds of birds. The hike then descends back to the starting point. \nThe hike is suitable for anyone able to walk gentle slopes. The total route is under 7 km\, with walking taking approximately 2 hours. DESCRIPTION:Galerija ULTI invites visitors to the opening of the exhibition by Nina Tomšič Polegek\, titled Deep\, taking place on Friday\, 22 May 2026 at 18:00. \nThe exhibition presents five paintings created in mixed media on canvas. Visitors are invited to engage with a rich visual narrative that explores the artist’s unique investigation of identity\, symbolism\, and the complexity of visual expression. The exhibition will be introduced at the opening by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kiki Klimt\, together with the artist. The musical programme will be provided by pianist Eva Zec. \nOn 3 June 2026\, the artist will also lead a guided tour of the exhibition. \nThe event will be held in Slovene. \nEvent website
