DESCRIPTION:Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto invites you to the presentation of the autobiography entitled Everything Is Fate\, which will take place on Thursday\, 5 March 2026\, at 6.00 pm in the Events Atrium. \nRacing driver\, successful businessman and\, for a period\, also diplomat Matjaž Tomlje\, born in Novo mesto\, won the bronze medal at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 1994\, achieving one of the greatest accomplishments in Slovenian motor racing. \nIn the opening chapters of his autobiography\, the author acknowledges that he was shaped by the “automotive spirit beneath the Gorjanci Hills”\, namely the Novo mesto-based IMV company. SUMMARY:The 7 Waterfalls Trail Hike
DESCRIPTION:The Pohodniško društvo Novo mesto invites everyone\, especially young hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers\, to join us once again across the border to Croatia\, this time to Istria. We are heading to Buzet\, which will be the starting point of the circular 7 Waterfalls Trail through the canyon of the Mirna River and Draga. Our activity is supported by the Municipality of Novo mesto. \nDEPARTURE: We will meet at 6:00 AM at OŠ Bršljin. From there\, we will travel to Buzet\, our starting point for a beautiful and memorable hike. \nHIKE: We will begin our tour in the gorge of the Mirna River\, where the water has created lakes\, rapids\, and pools\, with the waterfalls being the most beautiful feature. Each of the seven waterfalls is unique\, and the third waterfall stands out the most with its 26 meters. This is also where the trail stamp is located. We continue into the Buzet Canyon\, which also features a climbing area. A steeper ascent follows\, assisted by pegs and steel cables. After visiting the fourth waterfall\, the trail will lead us to Napoleonov most (Napoleon’s Bridge)\, past abandoned villages to the hamlet of Kotlje\, where there are pools\, an abandoned mill\, and the fifth waterfall. Not far ahead\, the final two waterfalls follow. The entire circular route is 15 km long and not technically demanding. We will need approximately 6 to 7 hours of moderate walking with breaks to complete the route. The planned return to Novo mesto is in the late afternoon. \nENVIRONMENTAL GUIDELINES: During the hike\, we will make every effort to carry our waste back home\, avoid causing damage to nature\, and not disturb forest animals with noise. \nEQUIPMENT: You will need warm clothing\, a hat\, gloves\, and good footwear – hiking boots are recommended – as well as personal equipment. Do not forget your ID and hiking logbook. Hiking poles are also recommended. In case of higher water levels\, it may be necessary to remove boots when crossing the river\, so sandals or flip-flops and a small towel would be useful. \nFOOD: Please bring your own food and drinks in your backpack. \nPRICE: Youth – members €25\, non-members €30. Adults – members €30\, non-members €35. \nREGISTRATION: Registrations are collected by Tomaž Struna until Wednesday\, March 4\, 2026\, until 2:00 PM at 040 215 094 or tomaz.struna@gmail.com. \nGUIDING: The hike will be led by licensed guides of the Planinska zveza Slovenije at the Pohodniško društvo Novo mesto. Along the way\, they also walked part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route\, cycled along one of the most beautiful cycling routes in the world – Shimanami Kaido – and made more than 20\,000 steps every single day while exploring cities such as Tokyo\, Kyoto\, and Osaka. \nAt the Expo world exhibition\, they were impressed by remarkable architecture and discovered that they are not very good at waiting in queues. Modern Japanese metropolises are a true playground for both young and old\, offering something delicious to eat on almost every corner. DESCRIPTION:The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto\, together with the Biodynamic Association Ajda Dolenjska\, invites you to a lecture by Maja Kolar titled Healthy Soil for Food Production and the Use of Chromatography\, which will take place on Wednesday\, 11 March 2026\, at 5:00 pm in the Events Atrium. \nVital and healthy soil forms the fundamental basis for producing high-quality food for human consumption. The lecture will present key steps that help achieve this goal. Special attention will be given to the method of chromatography\, which is used within the biodynamic approach to effectively evaluate and assess soil quality. \nDr Maja Kolar holds a doctorate in agronomy and is a qualified lecturer in the field of organic food production at the Biotechnical Centre Naklo. She is also co-president of the Demeter International Biodynamic Federation\, which certifies biodynamic producers operating under the Demeter label. \nBased on her own life experience\, she devoted herself to organic farming. In recent years she has focused particularly on preserving and propagating traditional organic seeds. She works as the professional coordinator of Semenjalnica\, an ecological seed bank. She also participates in various projects in Slovenia and abroad related to organic and biodynamic education and advisory work.
