DESCRIPTION:The Trška gora Winegrowers’ Association invites visitors to join the 16th traditional hike along the slopes of Trška gora\, taking place on Saturday\, 7 November 2026. Participants will have the opportunity to explore scenic trails winding through vineyards and wine cottages\, while discovering the area’s winegrowing heritage and warm hospitality. \nRegistration takes place between 8.30 am and 9 am at Gostilna Pugelj\, with the hike setting off at 9 am. Along the route\, there will be several stops. At the main refreshment stop\, Okrepčevalnica pri Darinki\, participants can look forward to a hot meal and the traditional blessing of the new wine. The hike is expected to finish at the starting point at around 2 pm. \nThe participation fee is €15 per person and includes a souvenir glass with a pouch\, drinks\, light refreshments at the stops\, a hot meal and an accompanying programme. \nThe hike will take place in all weather conditions. The Association for Organic Farming of Dolenjska\, Posavje and Bela krajina is organising the 19th ECO Fair\, bringing together organic farmers and producers from Dolenjska\, Posavje\, Bela krajina and other Slovenian regions. \nAt the stalls hosted by numerous organic farms\, visitors will have the opportunity to discover and purchase a wide variety of organic produce and products directly from the growers and producers. The event will also feature tastings\, live music\, folk performances and a friendly social atmosphere. \nSpecial emphasis will be placed on the importance of organically produced food and its impact on health\, the environment and sustainable development. At 9 am\, a lecture entitled Why Choose Organic Food? will take place at the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre – Situla\, delivered by Dr Martina Bavec. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, 14 November 2026\, Hostel and Bistro Situla\, in collaboration with Novo Mesto Market\, brings a taste of rural tradition to the city with Koline meščanom\, a traditional Slovenian pig slaughter feast. The event will take place in two parts\, combining demonstrations of traditional pork dish preparation\, folk music\, local delicacies and convivial dining. \nThe first part will take place in Glavni trg square during the final Novo Mesto Market of the year. Visitors will be able to watch the preparation of traditional pork sausages\, pork liver and other characteristic dishes associated with koline\, discovering the delicacies traditionally prepared on this occasion. The programme will be accompanied by live music from Gašper Kavšek\, and admission will be free and open to everyone. \nThe second part of the event will offer a private culinary experience for groups\, available by advance reservation in an intimate setting. The programme will include a welcome with traditional folk music\, a tasting of cured meat delicacies\, a demonstration of and participation in preparing traditional dishes\, followed by a four-course dinner accompanied by wine. The conference will take place on 27 November 2026\, from 9 am to 1 pm\, at Narodni dom in Novo Mesto. \nThe conference will open up a discussion on the current state of Dolenjska gastronomy\, its key challenges and opportunities for future development. It is intended for hospitality providers\, local producers\, suppliers and other stakeholders who contribute to shaping the region’s gastronomic identity\, as well as anyone with an interest in the subject. \nThe conference will be moderated by Grega Repovž of Gostilna Repovž\, President of JRE Slovenia\, who will also lead the main panel discussion with four guests: Toni Kukenberger (Kukenberger Organic Farm)\, Jože Mrak (Gostilna Mrak)\, Marko Pavčnik (Pavus Restaurant) and Matevž Slokar (Kralj Matjaž). The programme will also feature a Kevdr podcast with guest Gregor Kren\, sommelier and long-standing member of the team at Hiša Fink\, who was named Slovenia’s Best Waiter/Sommelier by Gault&Millau Slovenia in 2022. Dobrote Dolenjske will take care of the culinary element\, offering a tasting of various types of štruklji. Yet its culinary identity remains rather like a štrukelj – wrapped up\, fragmented and not sufficiently recognised. Who should take responsibility for developing it: producers\, restaurateurs\, entrepreneurs\, the tourism sector or visitors? And\, above all\, how can we bring it from discussion tables onto restaurant menus? \n“Who Will Unwrap Dolenjska’s Culinary Potential?” \nWe talk a great deal about local cuisine\, yet it is often difficult to find it on restaurant menus. It is easy to point the finger at restaurateurs\, but the responsibility does not rest with them alone. Producers must ensure quality and a consistent supply\, restaurateurs must develop dishes and know how to promote them\, entrepreneurs and the tourism sector must turn them into a recognisable story\, and guests must be willing to order them. \nWhere is Dolenjska’s culinary story getting stuck\, and who needs to take the first step?
