Literary Evening: Aleksandar Hemon in Novo Mesto
Goga Bookshop and Café invites you to a literary evening with Aleksandar Hemon: The World and All That It Holds on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at 8.00 pm.
At Goga Bookshop, we are hosting a literary evening with one of the most important contemporary writers from the former Yugoslavia, Aleksandar Hemon. To mark the publication of the Slovenian translation of The World and All That It Holds, translated by Irena Duša, the author will visit Slovenia and, in conversation with Adriana Kući, discuss the book and its themes.
The World and All That It Holds is a rich and moving novel that begins in Sarajevo in 1914 and, through the lives of its protagonists, explores questions of love, identity, belonging and survival in a time of profound historical upheaval. With his characteristic narrative power, Hemon combines an intimate personal story with an epic historical sweep, creating one of his most acclaimed works to date.
The event forms part of the cultural programme of the bookshop, co-funded by the Slovenian Book Agency.
