The Tour of Slovenia is the country’s premier international cycling race and an important fixture on the professional cycling calendar. Organised annually by the Novo Mesto Cycling Club since 1993, the race attracts many of the world’s leading UCI WorldTour teams and is broadcast in more than 120 countries worldwide. The event consists of several stages that traverse Slovenia’s stunning landscapes, combining varied terrain, technically demanding climbs and exciting sprint finishes.
The final stage traditionally finishes in Novo Mesto, where the riders first tackle the climb to Trška Gora before returning to the city centre for a fast-paced finishing circuit, culminating in the finish on Glavni trg (Main Square) in front of enthusiastic crowds of spectators. The finale in Novo Mesto is not only the sporting highlight of the race but also a city-wide celebration, offering a rich accompanying programme of events and activities for all generations. Each year, the event brings together elite sport, regional promotion and an outstanding atmosphere, further strengthening Novo Mesto’s reputation as one of Slovenia’s leading cycling destinations.
