3D Scanning: From Industry to Heritage

At 6 pm, the event atrium of the Miran Jarc Novo Mesto Library will host a lecture on 3D scanning.

Participants will learn how objects can be scanned in three dimensions and how precise digital models can be created from the measurements obtained. They will also discover how 3D scanning is used in industry, as well as for the digital documentation and preservation of cultural heritage objects. The lecture will be followed by a moderated discussion.

Chess960 Tournament: A Creative Take on a Classic Game

Also at 6 pm, the Miran Jarc Novo Mesto Library classroom will host a free Chess960 tournament, organised by Rudolfovo and the KRKA Novo Mesto Chess Club.

Chess960 is a variation of chess in which the starting position of the pieces is selected from 960 possible arrangements. As players cannot rely solely on knowledge of established openings, the game encourages independent thinking, the recognition of new patterns, adaptability and creativity. The tournament is open to beginners, chess enthusiasts and experienced players alike.
