Guided Tour of Base 20
The Dolenjska Museum invites you to a guided tour of Base 20 on Saturday, 25 July 2026, at 9:00 am at Base 20. The event is part of the Summer in Kočevski Rog programme.
From April 1943 to December 1944, Base 20 served as the headquarters of the political leadership of the Slovene National Liberation Movement. It is the only preserved resistance movement headquarters in Europe that was built and operated in complete secrecy, making it an important monument to Slovenian statehood.
During a walk through the settlement of 26 wooden barracks and a visit to the two exhibitions, participants will learn about the security measures that kept the location hidden and enabled the leadership to operate undetected. The tour also includes a visit to the nearby Bunker 44.
