This year, Novo mesto is once again taking part in the nationwide promotional campaign All Aboard for Culture! to the Historical Towns of Slovenia, encouraging sustainable travel and inviting visitors to discover the rich cultural heritage of Slovenia’s historic towns.
Organised by the Association of Historical Towns of Slovenia in cooperation with Slovenian Railways since 2023, the campaign continues in 2026 by combining comfortable travel by train or bus with discounted admission to cultural attractions. From 1 July to 31 October 2026, visitors can enjoy a 20% discount on regular admission prices at participating museums, galleries and other cultural institutions by presenting a valid Slovenian Railways ticket for the day of their visit, a confirmation issued on the basis of the IJPP public transport card (valid for both train and bus travel), or a Slovenia ticket.
In Novo mesto, visitors can enjoy discounted admission to the Dolenjska Museum, Jakac House Gallery and the Observation Deck Kapitelj. Tickets for the museum and gallery are available at their respective ticket offices, while tickets for the Observation Deck Kapitelj can be purchased at the Novo mesto Tourist Information Centre (TIC) or at the Dolenjska Museum ticket office. The campaign offers an excellent opportunity to explore Novo mesto’s rich museum, gallery and cultural offer, as well as one of the finest panoramic views of its historic town centre – in a sustainable, convenient and affordable way.
Novo mesto has been a proud member of the Association of Historical Towns of Slovenia for many years. In 2026, the Association brings together 24 historic towns and promotes the preservation of cultural heritage, the revitalisation of historic town centres and the development of cultural tourism across Slovenia through a range of joint projects.
