Late summer is the perfect time for city strolls, exploring historic streets, squares and landmarks, and taking a relaxing break over a cup of coffee. The Coffee in the City (Gremo v mesto na kavo) prize draw, organised by the Association of Historic Towns of Slovenia, of which Novo Mesto is also a member, invites you to capture and share these moments.
The prize draw brings together 24 historic towns across Slovenia, including Novo Mesto. The idea is simple – visit a historic town centre, enjoy a coffee or another non-alcoholic drink, and capture your coffee moment together with the town’s unique atmosphere.

How to take part?
Visit Novo Mesto or one of the other participating historic towns. In the town centre, enjoy a coffee, tea, lemonade, juice, dessert or another non-alcoholic drink, and take a photo that shows both your drink and part of the historic town centre – for example, a square, street, building façade, terrace, townscape or landmark.
Then submit your photo using the form on the prize draw website. A new photo must be submitted for each town you visit, using the same email address, as the towns are collected and counted for each participant.
Visit two or seven towns and win a prize
If you collect photos from at least two different historic towns, you will be entered into the draw for one of three prizes:
- 1 x slice of sour cherry cake for two people at Hotel Evropa in Celje,
- 1 x wine tasting for two people at Hotel Piran,
- 1 x one-day bicycle rental for two people at Barbara Piran Beach Hotel.
You can win even more by visiting at least seven different historic towns. This will enter you into the draw for the grand prize – an overnight stay with breakfast for two at Hotel Ptuj.

Coffee with a view of Novo Mesto
Novo Mesto offers numerous spots where you can combine a city stroll with a relaxing break and your favourite drink. Take a walk around Glavni trg, discover the picturesque streets of the historic town centre or stop at one of the town’s terraces. Capture your coffee moment in Novo Mesto and continue your journey to other historic towns across Slovenia.
The prize draw runs until 17 September 2026. Photos can be submitted until 11.59 pm on 17 September.
