50 Years of Folklorno društvo Kres Novo mesto

This year, Folklorno društvo Kres (Kres Folklore Group) celebrates 50 years of activity, dance, music, and dedicated preservation of cultural heritage. To mark this important anniversary, you are warmly invited to two jubilee concerts, celebrating folklore, community, and respect for tradition.

Audiences can look forward to two evenings filled with energy, emotion, and outstanding folkloric performances, which will, through dance and music, tell the story of five decades of the group’s creative journey. The jubilee concerts will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience for all lovers of culture and Slovenian folk heritage.

The concert evenings will take place at the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre in Novo mesto on Friday and Saturday, 30 and 31 January 2026.

The Saturday concert will be especially ceremonial, with the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Nataša Pirc Musar, attending as guest of honour. Her presence represents an important recognition of the long-standing work of Folklorno društvo Kres and of all generations of dancers, musicians, and mentors who have, for half a century, carefully preserved and developed the cultural heritage of the Dolenjska region and Slovenia as a whole.

Tickets are available at the box office of the Janez Trdina Cultural Centre and via the centre’s online ticketing system. Due to expected high demand, early purchase is recommended.
