5th International Congress of Slovenian Museum Professionals: Museums Connecting a Divided World
From Wednesday, 23 September to Friday, 25 September 2026, the Dolenjska Museum in Novo Mesto is hosting the 5th International Congress of Slovenian Museum Professionals.
The central theme of the congress is how museums can help connect a divided world. On the first day, international speakers addressed social cohesion, museums as safe spaces and new perspectives on museum work. A special focus was also given to a discussion on Egyptian heritage in Slovenia.
The second day of the congress will take place at the Dolenjska Museum and Jakac House. Museum professionals from different institutions will present examples from practice and discuss how museums can work together with local communities to create spaces for dialogue.
The third day will feature an excursion to Kočevski Rog, including a visit to Base 20.
