Balkan U18 Championships
On Saturday, 4 July 2026, Novo Mesto will host the Balkan U18 Championships, one of the region’s most prestigious athletics competitions for young athletes. More than 500 athletes from Balkan countries, including a strong Slovenian national team, will gather at Portoval Athletics Stadium to compete against the region’s most promising young talents.
The championships will showcase rising stars across a wide range of track and field events, offering spectators the opportunity to watch some of Europe’s future athletics talents in action. The event is hosted by Athletics Club Krka Novo Mesto, which continues the city’s long-standing tradition of organising major international athletics competitions.
The Balkan U18 Championships are another significant international sporting event that further strengthens Novo Mesto’s position as one of Slovenia’s leading athletics centres and an important host of international competitions in the region.
