Book Presentation: Violeta Tomić – Obey Your Mother and Don’t Forget Your Father
Mirana Jarca Library Novo mesto warmly invites you, on the occasion of World Book Day, to a presentation of the book by actress, director, TV host, and former Member of the National Assembly, Violeta Tomić. The event will take place on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at 7:00 pm in the Event Atrium.
Her autobiographical debut, Obey Your Mother and Don’t Forget Your Father, offers a brutally honest self-analysis in which she confronts her most painful memories—many of which had been buried so deeply that they required careful reflection and confrontation. The book explores themes such as genetic memory, childhood experiences and trauma, and physical, psychological, and sexual abuse—topics that demand great courage and distance to bring into the light and begin the process of healing. Written with the pace of a crime novel, it encourages readers, through its honesty and bravery, to embark on their own journey of self-discovery and liberation.
