Night on the Krka

Night on the Krka (Noč na Krki) is a traditional family event that takes place at the end of summer along the Krka River in Novo mesto, with the main venue located in the Loka Sports and Recreation Park. The event dates back to the 19th century and the tradition of celebrating the feast day of St John of Nepomuk. It brings together a wide range of activities and symbolically revives historical moments, as light has always been the central symbol of the event.

The programme features a lively afternoon schedule with various sports activities, a youth market, an international gathering of brass bands and majorette groups, children’s entertainment, and an evening concert. All activities are free of charge, and the event is accompanied by a diverse culinary offering. The organiser is the Novo mesto Institute in cooperation with the Oton Youth Centre and the Municipality of Novo mesto.
