Novo Mesto Summer Evenings: Contemporary Slovenian Science Fiction Literature
As part of the Novo Mesto Summer Evenings festival, Goga Publishing House invites you to the literary evening Contemporary Slovenian Science Fiction Literature, taking place on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at 8.00 pm.
CONTEMPORARY SLOVENIAN SCIENCE FICTION LITERATURE; IGOR HARB, NIKA NIKOLIČ AND ALJOŠA HARLAMOV / LITERARY EVENING
The Slovenian geek universe has become richer this year with two new home-grown works of science fiction. One is by translator, critic and long-time genre enthusiast Igor Harb, while the other is by writer and psychotherapist Nika Nikolič.
Since both authors have long explored science-fiction worlds as passionate readers and knowledgeable followers of the genre, the conversation promises to venture far beyond Earth. Among cosmic expanses, androids, futures, alternative worlds and perhaps a few questions about human nature, the discussion will be guided by writer, editor and devoted science-fiction enthusiast Aljoša Harlamov.
The event will take place at the festival venue in the Main Square, in front of Goga Bookshop.
NOVO MESTO SUMMER EVENINGS
Throughout July and August, Novo Mesto welcomes some of Slovenia’s leading writers, poets and musicians. Alongside literature, the festival also explores wider social issues. With Novo Mesto Summer Evenings, Goga brings a vibrant programme of cultural events to the town. Every book, every conversation with authors, is a celebration of Slovenian literature, the written word and the power of ideas.
