Travel Lecture: Barbara Vidmajer and Črt Jaklič – Japan
The Miran Jarc Library Novo mesto invites you to a travel lecture: Barbara Vidmajer and Črt Jaklič – Japan, which will take place on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at 6:00 pm in the Events Atrium.
This time, Barbara Vidmajer and Črt Jaklič will take the audience on a journey to the Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. As befits “true” Slovenians, they travelled there to conquer the country’s sacred mountain, Mount Fuji. Along the way, they also walked part of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage route, cycled along one of the most beautiful cycling routes in the world – Shimanami Kaido – and made more than 20,000 steps every single day while exploring cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.
At the Expo world exhibition, they were impressed by remarkable architecture and discovered that they are not very good at waiting in queues. Modern Japanese metropolises are a true playground for both young and old, offering something delicious to eat on almost every corner. A hidden gem is Okinawa, a Japanese island chain near Taiwan, where they searched for the secret of longevity.
