Every Friday from July to September, visitors to the Novo mesto Tourist Information Centre (TIC Novo mesto) are invited to send a greeting to their family and friends in Slovenia or abroad with a free postcard featuring a Novo mesto motif.
Summer is a time for exploring, creating unforgettable memories and sharing special experiences. This year, TIC Novo mesto is once again organising the popular Free Postcard Days campaign, inviting visitors to preserve a small part of their visit in a truly special way – by sending a handwritten postcard.
The campaign takes place every Friday from July to September at TIC Novo mesto. Every visitor can choose a free postcard featuring one of Novo mesto’s distinctive motifs and, if they wish, receive a complimentary postage stamp before writing a message and sending it to family or friends anywhere in Slovenia or around the world. The postcards showcase a variety of scenes from Novo mesto, highlighting its landmarks, character and unique atmosphere while encouraging visitors to share the city’s story beyond Slovenia’s borders.
Although most messages are now sent with just a few taps on a smartphone, postcards remain something truly special. A handwritten message carries a personal touch that digital communication simply cannot replace, while a postcard itself becomes a lasting keepsake of a memorable visit. It is no surprise, therefore, that postcards have enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years.
The Free Postcard Days campaign has received an enthusiastic response from visitors ever since it was introduced. Last year alone, more than 150 postcards were sent from Novo mesto to 16 different countries, proving that this simple gesture remains one of the most meaningful ways to share travel memories.
