Goga Bookstore & Café

Where books, coffee and the cultural spirit of Novo Mesto come together.

Goga Bookstore & Café is located in the heart of the old town centre of Novo Mesto, on the Main Square, where for many years it has been a favourite meeting place for book lovers, culture enthusiasts and those seeking a pleasant place to relax. The unique combination of bookstore, publishing house and café creates a space where visitors can enjoy a good coffee, discover a new literary story or simply spend a pleasant moment in the creative atmosphere of the town.

The space where Goga Bookstore & Café is located today is part of one of the most recognisable settings in the old town centre of Novo Mesto. For centuries, the Main Square has been the heart of urban life, where trade, crafts, social gatherings and cultural events have intertwined. With the opening of the bookstore and café, this part of the town gained new life, becoming a place for encounters, exchange of ideas and creativity. Within the historic surroundings, a contemporary town story is being created – a story of books, culture and inspiring moments.

In its welcoming atmosphere, visitors can explore a carefully selected range of books, with a focus on high-quality Slovenian and international literature, children’s books and works by local authors. The café complements the literary experience with selected coffees, hot beverages, refreshing drinks, as well as sweet and savoury snacks, making it a popular place for relaxed conversations, reading or a peaceful break in the middle of the town’s vibrant atmosphere.

Goga Bookstore & Café is closely connected with Goga Publishing House, which has been making an important contribution to Slovenian literature for more than two decades by publishing works by renowned Slovenian and international authors. In addition to its publishing activities, Goga also contributes significantly to the cultural life of Novo Mesto by organising various literary and cultural events, including the Rudi Potepuški, Novomeški poletni večeri and Reku reku festivals. These events bring creativity, art, encounters with authors and new opportunities for connecting visitors and the local community.

Goga Bookstore & Café is much more than a café or bookstore – it is a place of stories, ideas and encounters, where literature, culture and everyday town life come together. Over a cup of coffee, with a good book or at a cultural event, visitors can experience the creative energy of Novo Mesto.
