Loka – Kuhla Restaurant (Gostišče Loka – Kuhla) is a popular choice among both locals and visitors to Novo mesto. It is located in the town centre, along Župančič Promenade, right beside the Krka River. The building that now houses this modern restaurant has undergone several transformations over the years – once a boathouse, later a nightclub, it has since evolved into a welcoming venue for dining, socialising and a variety of events.
The menu offers a wide selection of dishes, including meat and fish specialities, burgers, pasta, risottos, fresh salads, daily lunch menus and a tempting choice of desserts. Sweet treats are given special attention, with the restaurant’s homemade ice cream being voted the Best Ice Cream in the Dolenjska Region by readers of the Dolenjskainfo portal in 2026. More recently, the offer has been enriched with products from their own bakery. At weekends, visitors can enjoy freshly baked bread, pastries and other homemade baked goods, all prepared using the restaurant’s own recipes.
In addition to serving daily lunches and dinners, Loka – Kuhla Restaurant is a popular venue for family celebrations, weddings, business meetings and other special occasions. A multifunctional hall is available for events, accommodating up to 150 guests with a dance floor or up to 200 guests without one. Events can also be organised on the spacious riverside terrace overlooking the Krka River. Warm hospitality, excellent cuisine and beautiful riverside views combine to create a memorable dining experience that keeps guests coming back.
