The trail takes you to Kostanjevica na Krki, the only Slovenian town situated on an island, also called the Venice of Dolenjska because of the Krka River, which surrounds the town with its canals. The trail leading to the town requires proper physical fitness from cyclists, as there are quite a few demanding climbs. The most demanding climb is the one to the top of Veliki Ban, where the route takes you through vine-clad hills along the Gorjanci slope. Shortly before the ascent, you can make a stop at the Carthusian monastery – the Pleterje Charterhouse, which is one of the most interesting sights along the way. From Kostanjevica na Krki onwards, the trail mainly traverses flat terrain along the sheltering canopy of the Krakovo forest on one side and the Krka River on the other. The trail then takes you past the most photogenic Slovenian castle in Otočec.
