Like Rome, Novo mesto sits on seven hills, among which the archaeologically most important are Marof and Kapiteljski Hill. You will climb some of them and merely touch others, but in any case, you should set aside a full day if you want to see at least the main attractions.
On the left bank of the Krka River lie Kapiteljski Hill (253 m), which dominates the town center, and Marof (228 m) reachable via the Kette Tree-Lined Avenue. On the right bank are Ragov Log (218 m), Mrvar Hill (215 m), Recl Hill (221 m), Grm (215 m), and the Portoval peak at Na Drski (229 m).
