Portoval Sports and Recreation Park in Novo Mesto is a modern and versatile centre for sports, recreation, and leisure, bringing together a wide range of sporting facilities and activities. The park includes the Portoval football stadium, built in 1958 on the site of a smaller local sports facility, which today serves as the central hub of sporting life in the city.
Portoval is home to local clubs and associations, such as NK Krka, Atletski klub Krka, Teniški klub Portovald, and others, and it provides facilities for competitions, training sessions, and events. Each year, the park hosts several notable events, including the Mini Olimpijada Novo Mesto, International Athletics Meeting – Novo Mesto, and the Mayor’s Tennis Tournament.
In addition to the stadium, the park features a football pitch, tennis courts (indoor and outdoor), and a bowling alley, offering a broad range of sports activities for individuals and clubs. At the heart of the complex is a car and camper parking area (PZA Novo Mesto). Nearby, visitors can enjoy the Pump Track for cyclists and skateboarders, while along the Krka River are Bar Plaža for summer refreshments and the City Beach, where visitors can rent SUPs, boats, or canoes.
Portoval combines sports, recreation, and social life, making it an important meeting place for sports clubs, associations, and the residents of Novo Mesto, offering opportunities for active leisure in a well-maintained and accessible environment.
