The trail is suitable for both recreational cyclists as well as those who are less fit. Since the trail follows the course of the Krka River at all times, it is an easy ride both in terms of terrain and orientation; the climb to Baza 20 (Base 20), however, is a different story, and may be skipped by less committed cyclists. Starting from Novo mesto, ride along the Krka River in the direction of Cegelnica and Groblje, then passing through Zalog and Straža briefly climb to Dolenje Polje, where you follow the road to Dolenjske Toplice after crossing a wooden bridge. You can finish the trip here and turn back towards Novo mesto or continue towards the villages of Sela and Podturn, where you enter a forest. The climb to Baza 20 (400 m above sea level) in the heart of Kočevski Rog is 6 km long and will take you about 40 minutes. The political leadership of the Slovenian National Liberation Movement was based here from April 1943 to December 1944. These are the only headquarters of any resistance movement in Europe that were built and preserved in such a secret way. From Dolenjske Toplice, return to Straža along the right bank of the Krka River passing through Gorenje and Dolenje Gradišče, then ride back to Novo mesto
