Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet close enough for a family cycling trip or a leisurely hike from Novo mesto, the green recreation park invites all generations to active relaxation. In the shade of the trees, you can recharge your strengths in the picnic area, while children can practice their motor skills on the playground with a view of the horse pastures. A sensory learning forest path invites you to get in close contact with nature and with yourself, and you can get in shape by jogging along a 1 km long trim track that surrounds the Olympic Centre. Toilet facilities are also available in the park.
The Olympic centre is surrounded by a sandy jogging trail with a total length of 1000 metres. The trail, which mainly runs through the forest, has five stations with training equipment made of natural materials. Devices for body strengthening and building your endurance, strength, balance and mobility are suitable for different age groups and enable overall exercising to improve your well-being. The jogging trail is available 24 hours a day and you can use it for free.
In the immediate vicinity of the equestrian centre, there is a park for motor skills activities nested in the authentic environment of the local forest, whose natural pleasant shade enables you to perform different exercises even on hot days. Playground equipment is made of natural materials and they encourage children to overcome dexterity challenges in a safe natural environment and to develop their motor skills which are important for healthy development. A climbing net, balance props, zipline, wooden columns and a giant swing among others are available for exercising and building up balance, coordination, mobility, speed, strength and endurance.
The sensory learning trail is adapted to the blind and visually impaired, nevertheless, it offers an interesting experience to all visitors. It is equipped with a tactile map for better orientation and information boards to raise awareness about blindness and myopia. On the map you can explore the forest through touch, smell and sound, you get to know nature in an innovative way and it helps you to strengthen your own senses. Touching different surfaces allows you to fully surrender to the natural environment and enjoy new sensory experiences. This kind of a sensory learning trail is an important acquisition for the blind and visually impaired, as it allows them to sharpen their senses, learn to be more independent and explore the forest, which is not where they would not normally go.
