Family Festival & Youth Market
The Municipality of Novo Mesto invites visitors to the Family Festival & Youth Market (Festival družin & Mladinska tržnica), taking place on Saturday, 5 September 2026, from 2 pm onwards on the green area below Planet Tuš in Novo Mesto.
The first weekend of September will bring a lively programme for all generations to Novo Mesto. The green area by the Krka River will host a variety of activities for children, young people and families, including a family cycling excursion and MTB challenge, a children’s performance, inflatable play equipment, a guided walk to a beehive, free boat and SUP hire, outdoor games, maths challenges, dance animation, folk dancing, a trail run, an obstacle course, rowing on the Krka and much more. The afternoon will conclude with an evening acoustic concert.

- 3–5 pm Firefighting games for the whole family
- 3–6 pm Family MTB cycling challenge (KD Zverinice)
- 3 pm Pump track workshop (KD Zverinice)
- 3 pm Bee walk – through Portoval Forest to the beehive
- 3.15 pm KAMIŠIBAI storytelling performance (Mirana Jarca Library Novo mesto), as part of the bee walk
- 3.30 pm Demonstration of basic life support and AED use (Red Cross Novo mesto)
- 3.30 pm Introduction to paediatric kinesiology for parents with babies (Igrivi svet Institute)
- 4 pm Mini trail run in Portoval Forest (Situla Trail Wolfpack)
- 4.15 pm Performance by the children’s group of KRES Folk Dance Society (FD Kres)
- 4.30 pm Dance animation by Plesni studio Novo mesto (PSNM)
- 4.30 pm Strolling Together – a group walk with prams through Portoval Forest, from Krošnjar to Povodni mož and back
- 5 pm Interactive musical performance for children and parents (SiTi Teater)
- 5.30 pm Tennis for the whole family (Portovald Tennis Club)
- 5.45 pm Demonstration of basic life support and AED use (Red Cross Novo mesto)
- 7 pm Mini acoustic concert by Gašper Turk (Plateau)
