Guided Tour of Novo mesto in the Footsteps of Dragotin Kette

On the occasion of the Cultural Holiday, we invite you on Sunday, 8 February 2026, to join a guided tour of Novo mesto in the footsteps of Dragotin Kette.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great poet Dragotin Kette, so we will take a walk from Main Square, where his bust and the famous fountain stand, past the former grammar school and on to Kette Avenue. In Kapitelj, we will learn more about his love life, and at the Jakac House Gallery we will view his portrait.

At 5:15 pm, also at the Jakac House Gallery, we will continue with a guided tour of the exhibition Sjaj in barva (Lustre and Colour). This thematically designed exhibition tells the story of 19th-century innovations in glassmaking through colour and lustre. From the rich collection, objects have been selected that have mostly never been exhibited before and are distinguished by their representative character and virtuoso craftsmanship.

The meeting point is at 4:00 pm in front of the TIC Novo mesto on Main Square.

The guided tour of the town and the gallery is free of charge.

The guided tour will be in the Slovenian language.
