Walk Along the Slak Trail
On Saturday, 9 May 2026, you are invited to the 13th Walk Along the Slak Trail, which takes place every year along the permanently marked Slak Trail on Trška Gora near Novo Mesto. The walk is dedicated to the memory of Lojze Slak, a virtuoso of the button accordion from the Dolenjska region and a legend of Slovenian folk-pop music.
The route is circular, clearly marked, easy, and 7.5 km long.
The walk starts and finishes at the Grm Agricultural School (Sevno 13, Novo Mesto).
PROGRAMME
- registration of participants from 8.00 onwards at the Grm Agricultural School
- group start at 9.00
- refreshment on Trška Gora from 10.00 to 11.00
- cultural programme on Trška Gora at the Lojze Slak memorial or at the church at 11.00 / Ensemble GLAS
- lunch at the Grm Agricultural School from 12.00 onwards
- Festival of accordion groups, organised by the Tourist Association of Dolenjska and Bela Krajina, from 13.30 onwards
ROUTE: Grm Agricultural School – Vinotoč Teropšič – Trška Gora at the church (refreshment) – Slak’s Vineyard Cottage – TKD Trškogorsko srce and Verček Vineyard Cottage – School Vineyard Cottage of the Grm Agricultural School – Grm Agricultural School (lunch)
The entry fee is EUR 25.00 per person. All registered participants receive a neck pouch and a glass, a voucher for refreshments and lunch, and a commemorative CD of the walk. Food and drinks at the stops are available freely without vouchers, except for the refreshment and lunch. Every participant who is an accordion player and joins the walk with their accordion will receive a commemorative Slak Trail T-shirt.
The walk is at your own risk and will take place in all weather conditions.
The walk is also part of the events held within the Cviček Festival and the 54th Cviček Week.
