Gostilna Vovko (Vovko House) is a family-run establishment with over 45 years of tradition, now continued by the second generation. Established in 1977 by Marina and Anton Vovko, it has welcomed guests with outstanding cuisine, fine wines, and warm hospitality ever since.
In 2009, Rok and Manca Vovko officially took over the management, ensuring the family legacy thrives while continuously improving the offer and quality. Gostilna Vovko cherishes its tradition and knows how to bring it closer to both the local guest, the hungry traveller and the business guest. The awareness that the inn also represents our region, is deeply rooted in the Vovko family. They bring the local environment closer to the guest and present it through food, wine and friendly words. They focus on the cuisine of the Dolenjska Region, adding a touch of modernity to some dishes, while leaving some as they were prepared by their ancestors. In addition to an excellent culinary and wine experience, Gostilna Vovko also offers the accommodation.
Gastronomic critics regularly rank Gostilna Vovko among the best both in the Dolenjska Region and Slovenia. Since 2018, the international gastronomic guide Gault Millau has awarded the cuisine of Gostilna Vovko two chef’s hats, and in 2024 they already had three hats. Its quality is also repeatedly recognized and confirmed by prominent Slovenian culinary critics. In 2020 and 2021, the world-renowned red guide Michelin recommended Gostilna Vovko in its Slovenian edition and awarded it the Michelin Plate, complimenting “fresh ingredients and a carefully prepared, good meal.” They were also included in the Michelin Guide in the following years, most recently in 2024.
At Gostilna Vovko, they prepare simple traditional dishes, cherishing the cuisine of Slovenia and the Dolenjska Region, with a touch of modernity. We would like to highlight the roasted veal shank. In the kitchen, they choose the seasonal ingredients produced by local suppliers, as this is the only way they can ensure the quality their guests expect. They take pride in the effort of their chefs, who still prepare noodles by hand, make štruklji, svaljki, and many other dishes from the rich treasury of Dolenjska cuisine. Welcome to the Vovko house!
