Rudolfovanje 2026

As part of the celebration of the municipal holiday of the Municipality of Novo mesto, the Hiking Association Novo mesto is organizing the traditional, now twelfth, “Rudolfovanje.” This is a hiking–cycling–cultural event aimed at reviving and bringing back to life the Rudolf Trail.
The hiking and cycling route is 40 km long and follows the borders of the former town territory of Rudolfswerth, as defined by Rudolf IV of Habsburg in the founding charter in 1365.
This year’s Rudolfovanje will take place together with the “Sports City” event organized by the Novo mesto Institute.
You are invited to join one of the events on April 11, 2026, with a joint conclusion at 4:00 PM at the Olympic Center (by the swimming pool) in Češča vas:

Each participant can choose the option that suits them best:

1. Full-route hike of the Rudolf Trail, starting in Češča vas at the Olympic Center. The hike begins at 6:00 AM. Refreshments will be provided along the way, and transportation will be arranged for anyone who becomes too exhausted. Although the route is technically easy, its length makes it demanding. Including breaks, it will take about 10 hours. The highest point reached will be Golušnik at 510 meters, and the lowest point will be the crossing of the Krka River at Otočec at 160 meters.
2. Main (central) hike, held every year from the covered cutting at Karteljevo, past the mill in Bezgavec, to the Olympic Center (green section of the route on the next page). Participants will meet at 11:00 AM in Češča vas by the pool, from where a bus will take them to the starting point. The hike will be 14 km long, with a refreshment stop along the way. The difficulty is easy.
3. Trekking cycling along the full route, also starting at the Olympic Center at 11:30 AM. The same route description and characteristics apply to cyclists. The cycling difficulty is rated V1, S1, with sections above Luknja and from Golušnik toward Grčevje rated V2 and S2.

Activities will be adapted to participants and weather conditions.
The final gathering will take place at the Olympic Center in Češča vas.
All hiking and cycling participants will receive a free hot meal.
