The latest Michelin Guide has once again brought excellent news for the Dolenjska and Posavje regions. Several local restaurants have retained their place among the selected establishments, confirming that south-eastern Slovenia is becoming increasingly recognised on Europe’s gastronomic map.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Michelin Guide Slovenia has unveiled its selection of the country’s finest restaurants, once again demonstrating that Slovenian gastronomy ranks among the very best in the world. In this year’s edition, Slovenia retained one three-Michelin-star restaurant – Hiša Franko in Kobarid, led by chef Ana Roš; one two-Michelin-star restaurant – Restaurant Milka in Kranjska Gora, led by chef David Žefran; and eight restaurants awarded one Michelin star: COB (chef Filip Matjaž), Dam (chef Uroš Fakuč), Galerija okusov (chef Marko Magajne), Gostilna pri Lojzetu (chef Tomaž Kavčič), Grič (chef Luka Košir), Hiša Denk (chef Gregor Vračko), Hiša Linhart (chef Uroš Štefelin) and Pavus (chef Marko Pavčnik).
A total of 74 Slovenian restaurants are included in the Michelin Guide Slovenia 2026. In addition to Michelin Stars, the guide awards the Bib Gourmand distinction for excellent value for money and includes restaurants in the Michelin Selected category, recognising establishments that stand out for the quality of their culinary offering. This year, 52 restaurants received the Michelin Selected designation, including six new additions.
Restaurants from the destination of Novo mesto have once again secured their place in the guide. Among the Michelin Selected establishments are Gostilna Vovko in Ratež and Restaurant Grad Otočec, both of which have been contributing to the reputation of Dolenjska gastronomy for many years.

Particular attention this year goes to Gostilnica Barba in Novo mesto, which is among the six newly added Michelin Selected restaurants in Slovenia. This recognition represents an important acknowledgement of the team’s quality, dedication and creativity, while further strengthening Novo mesto’s reputation as a destination offering diverse and high-quality culinary experiences.

Congratulations to these outstanding hospitality providers, whose expertise, warm hospitality and respect for local flavours make a significant contribution to the destination’s visibility and offer visitors authentic and memorable gastronomic experiences.
