Mountain Lodge Pri Gospodični (Planinska koča pri Gospodični) in the Gorjanci Mountains is a true haven for nature lovers and enthusiasts of authentic flavours. Surrounded by majestic forests and offering stunning views over the Novo mesto basin, it invites guests to enjoy the warmth of homeliness and the richness of local cuisine. Visitors are welcomed into comfortable pension-style accommodation with 34 beds, providing a safe and cosy start or end to a hiking day.
The restaurant, the highest in the Novo mesto municipality (828 m above sea level), can host up to 200 guests — with 100 seats on the large terrace offering breathtaking views, and additional seating in two indoor rooms, one of which features a warming fireplace.
In Gorjanci, nature writes its own menu, changing week by week, always inspiring. Signature dishes at the lodge include game goulash served in a bread bowl, mushroom minestrone with buckwheat dumplings and cracklings, barley stew with smoked meat, Gorjanci beans, and the indispensable jota with smoked meat — all prepared with love and respect for tradition.
On weekends, Mountain Lodge Pri Gospodični serves selected dishes from the seasonal gifts of the pristine nature: from spring wild garlic, shepherd’s purse, dandelion, and spruce tips, to summer porcini mushrooms, chanterelles, forest berries, raspberries, and elderflower. In autumn, the air is filled with the aroma of chestnuts, parasol mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and stump mushrooms. The common secret of all these dishes is that they are prepared with crystal-clear spring water from the heart of Gorjanci, believed in local tradition to have rejuvenating powers, keeping those who drink it youthful and vital.
Meals are complemented by homemade spirits and refreshing drinks from nearby vineyards, creating an unforgettable experience of Gorjanci’s culinary heritage.
