Marof is a picturesque hill known as one of the most important archaeological sites in Slovenia. Excavations here have uncovered rich remains from the Hallstatt period, most notably numerous intricately crafted situlae—iconic symbols of the sophisticated Iron Age culture.

Beyond its archaeological significance, Marof also offers recreational and scenic value, providing stunning views of the Krka Valley, the old town centre of Novo mesto, and the surrounding landscape.
